Blue Mountains East Timor Sisters
Blue Mountains Sisters are thrilled to announce that our East Timor Sisters Laura Abrantes and Mana Cassian will be visiting the Mountains in December.
Come and meet them at one of a number of places:
Meet them at the BMCC East Timor Reception on Friday December 1st from 5.00pm to 8.00pm in front of Blue Mountains Council. This reception will include a Tais exhibition, inaugural singing in Tetun by BMETS, the famous BM “Big Sing” choir, fabulous food and lots of fun celebrating resilience of Timorese people.
Meet Laura and Cassian at the next BMETS Garage Sale—if you haven’t been to one of these great community events, you have been missing out! Saturday
December 2nd 9.00am to 3.00pm at 246 The Mall Leura.
Last year we raised over $20,000 at theses garage sales for projects in Timor and we also helped recycle several tons of your treasures to other homes.
Donations gratefully received by being left on the verendah of 246.
This will be Mana Laura and Mana Cassian’s first experience of our sales—come along and welcome them!
Laura and Mana Cassian will also be guests of Leichhardt Council's Friends of Maliana Reception between 3-5pm at Leichhardt Town Hall on Monday December 4th, followed by the 3rd Annual Dr Andrew McNaughtan Memorial Lecture and book launch of "Independent Women" down the road at the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at Sydney Uni between 6-8pm on the same night.
